  • Notes
    • Just wanted to drop you a note to let you know that my mother passed away today [Sunday, 26 Nov 2006]
      - she had a bad fall on Saturday and lost consciousness. Although she regained it by the time the squad came, by the time they transported her to the hospital she had massive bleeding in her brain (probably due to being on blood thinners) and went into a coma. They had put her on a respirator and basically said that there was very little chance that she would regain anything near normal brain function so I decided not to do anything- we had discussed end of life issues several weeks before at the doctor’s when we had him sign her ‘Do not resuscitate” order and I was comfortable with the fact that she would not want to survive having to have a tracheotomy and stomach tube inserted. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get a hold of my brother until this evening, so I was reluctant to remove the respirator. Charlie and I and our minister visited with her this afternoon but she remained completely unresponsive and it was a relief when they called me a few hours later to say that her blood pressure had dropped and her heart had stopped. She will be buried here next to my father and I know that she is with him in a much better place. Her life has been quite a struggle the last several months with 3 other hospitalizations since mid September.
Hope all is well with you both and your family.

      Update from Ohio
      Good Morning-
JP and Rena and Lou made it in fine yesterday- all had good flights and arrived a few minutes early. Luckily the weather is relatively warm- in the 60’s but it is supposed to get nastier tomorrow and over the weekend. We are expecting Ronnie and Sally to drive in this afternoon in time for this evening’s visitation. Our minister, Gloria Brooks, is coming this morning to visit with JP and Rena, Charlie is delivering blood this morning so he took Lou along for the ride.
If you wish to see Mom’s obituary and visit the guest book you can go to <>. St. Joseph’s is planning on having a memorial service for mom while we are in Florida the week of Dec. 10- I will let you know when it is going to be once the date and time are settled. Looking forward to seeing those of you in Florida in a few weeks.
